A shutdown is being observed across Kashmir on Saturday against the killing of a Hurriyat (G) leader and deteriorating human rights situation in the Valley. All shops and other commercial establishments are closed in commercial hub Lal Chowk in Srinagar while public transport is mostly off the roads. Contingents of paramilitary forces have been deployed at all entry and exit points of downtown Srinagar, while lanes and by lanes have been blocked by concertina wires to prevent people from taking out any protests. Pedestrian movement is allowed only after thorough frisking in downtown Srinagar.
